Of all the lakes in the Haliburton Highlands, I think that Haliburton Lake is as well known as any of them and this is because it is a fine lake but also because of the monster lake trout caught on Haliburton Lake a few years back. Actually that fish was caught by the father of the owner of this cottage and the trophy fish hangs in the Fort Irwin Marina. While you are here in winter, you might want to try a dog sled tour which is a popular passtime in this area in winter. Information on dog sled tours can be had at the Winterdance link below.
This particular cottage property is on the main part of the lake so there is much to explore during your vacation. If you are in need of supplies, the Village of Eagle Lake is only 15 minutes away where there is a fine country store for food, beer and spirits. If you are looking for more substantial shopping, the Village of Haliburton is only 20 minutes from the cottage where there are large food stores, service stations, quaint shops, restaurants, beer store, LCBO, pharmacies, health care at the local hospital and much much more. If you wish additional information on this area, you might want to have a look at the following web sites ...
