Surrounded by majestic Algonquin forest, the cottage boasts a nice flat property so if there are people with bad knees in your group, they will appreciate the terrain around the cottage. There is a comfortable child safe deck with a table, chairs and umbrella as well as a propane BBQ for the family food preparation specialist. There is plenty of flat property around the cottage which is perfect for those popular lawn games and there is a volleyball / badminton net, croquet set, and a horseshoe pit. A short walk through the forest to the shore reveals a lovely lake vista. Here you will find a substantial dock with plenty of seating for your group and even and a shoreline with a nice gradual water entry and a sandy/soft bottom. In addition there is a paddle boat and paddle board for your on water enjoyment. For those of you who do not know Kawagama Lake, this is the largest lake in the Haliburton Highlands being over 12 km long and about 4 km at it's widest point with over 83 miles of shoreline and with 8 inhabited islands and lots of bays to explore. There are 2 marinas on the lake for all your boating needs and the lake is abundant with lake trout and small mouth bass. The nearest village is Dorset and by all means visit Robinson General Store which was rated the best country store in Canada several years ago. If you are looking for more substantial shopping, Huntsville and Minden and Haliburton Village are about a 40 minute drive away. And for the perfect day trip, Algonquin Park is also about 40 minutes from the cottage. So as you can see, this is a wonderful cottage in a great location on one one of the truly pretty lakes in the Highlands. Give us a call at 705-457-9434 and talk to one of our Vacation Planners who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you in the Haliburton Highlands this coming summer, "we're closer than you think" !!! |
