Outside is most interesting considering that this cottage is situated in such a way that the result is one of the great views of the Haliburton Highlands. When you look out from shore you can understand why the Haliburton Highlands is called "Nature's Natural Work Of Art". In addition, this cottage is only 15 minutes from Haliburton Village which makes it most appropriate for mature students attending the Haliburton School of Art. Some of the pictures below were taken both in summer and during the fall. For swimmers the swimming is fine with a rocky shoreline and a sandy bottom. The dock is equipped with a ladder for ease of entrance and exit from the water. The deck is nicely furnished with 6 loungers and a propane barbecue. The dock area is where you will find your paddle board, canoe and kayak.

Minnicock Lake’s restrictive covenant has provided the ideal environment for
wildlife, including loons, ravens, Great Blue Herons, owls, deer and small mouth bass. The lots are large and lawns are prohibited, so that most cottages are not visible from the water. There are a few motorboats limited to 6hp, with most cottagers using canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Temperate water
temperatures and the lack of motorboats ensure good swimming conditions. Part of the lakes shoreline is bounded by crown land making Minnicock ideal for those who want a quiet, natural experience. Our screened porch, deck and dock offer comfortable spots to enjoy nature. The wood fireplace and fire pit will enhance your Minnicock evenings. Minnicock Lake is 4 km long.

Supplies are readily available about 15 minutes away in Haliburton Village where there are large food stores, quaint shops, restaurants, health care, pharmacies, hospital, service stations, golf, and special events are always going on during the summer. And there is even a vet for fido if the need arises. So if you are planning on joining us next summer, give WRD a call at 705-457-9434 and discuss your needs with one of our Vacation Planners who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this fine vacation destination.

Renter Reviews

We love the old-fashioned charm of the cottage!
Our week was spent on the water, swimming, canoeing and kayaking
and playing board games in the evenings. What a beautiful spot!

The M Family

This is one of the most beautiful lakes in Haliburton.
So peaceful and it’s great that the owners respect the area and don’t clear cut the shoreline.
We saw a Great Blue Heron, Red-Tailed Hawk, hummingbirds, and a pair of loons with 2 babies.

G & G

The weather this past week was perfect, sun shining every day.
The location is beautiful.  We enjoyed waking up to hear the birds singing.
Saw the loons with their pair of babies, a snapping turtle of fairly advanced age
came to visit twice while we were swimming.
We enjoyed cooling off in the water after spending mornings exploring
Haliburton Village and area.  Found some great trails.
This whole area is just lovely.

The road in was like a roller coaster but it was well worth the ride.
The weather was great for most of every day.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch and dock admiring your beautiful scenery.
We saw an enormous snapping turtle and heard lots of loons, frogs and owls call.
I left a little hand spun wool on your spinning wheel.
I just took a spinning course at the Haliburton School of Art.
Thank you for renting your cottage to us.

Thank you for the fantastic stay.
M & M F

Hi.  My name is M.  I’m five.  I had a great time at this cottage.
I swam to the island, I kayaked around the lake and played
lots of games with my family.  I got to sit on the back of the kayak
while my dad towed me around.
Thank you so much.

Very comfortable, homey cottage.  Thank you.

L Family

Thank you for the wonderful stay!  Beautiful lake, swimming,
boating and fishing.  The cottage is lovely.  Love the antiques!

M Family

Thank you for this wonderful cottage.  We had an
amazing time and this lake is so beautiful!

Last day at the cottage and we are sad to go. The snapping turtle is
still around and even saw a beaver swim by. He made his home to the
right of the dock, and you might even see him swim by.
It's great being surrounded by all the trees and listening to the leaves rustle
as the wind passes by.
Thank you, we had a great stay.

R Family

We really enjoyed our stay at Minnicock Lake.
Your cottage is very comfortable and cozy.
Thanks for a relaxing getaway!

B and M Family

We were on a big adventure to the island today.
We got within 20 feet of the Loon Family.
So when we get home people will know
we went somewhere wonderful!
Many thanks.

K, S and I

Thank you for the lovely stay at your cottage.
We had a wonderful relaxing time. On our last night
we saw the full moon rise from the dock.
It was an amazing sight to see.
All the best.
